Harmony is her given name but that’s the type of trainer she really is; harmonious. She can make any workout to exciting and bring any group of people to come together and workout as one family. Her passion for fitness and people is really shown in her work from workout session to volunteering her time in fitness events. She brings a great energy and support system to every workout session which makes the workout a little less painful lol. The workouts that she brings are physically and mentally challenging yet, her encouragement and energy makes us push harder, get stronger and over all get results. Proud to call her my trainer and friend!
Omgggggg! What can I say about mgt?! I started in 2015, when unbeknownst to everyone around me, I was going through a divorce. Every time I stepped foot into the gym or at Hermann Park for bootcamp, each step was me trying to find my footing…..physically, mentally, and spiritually, all over again. For the first several months, I only came because I felt like it was the right thing to do. However, over time, MGT and Chris Green changed my outlook on health, wellness, and living a successful life. A big part of Mgt is discovering your “why”. Your reason for losing weight and/or gaining muscle must be more than just wanting to look better. Better mental health, physical health, adding more years to your life, encouraging your family to get heathy are all great reasons that I’ve discovered along my journey. If you commit to joining for a year you’ll never be the same!! Yes, it will be hard somedays– like the days when I would drive all the way to boot camp and then immediately leave because I really didn’t feel like working out after a long day at work. (Maybe gas was cheaper in 2015?? Ok, probably not.) However, MGT taught me to push past my feelings and to keep pushing until fitness became a hobby, a habit, a lifestyle. Mgt is different from your traditional gym. The people here become your family! They care about your well-being and help keep you accountable. Everyone here is rooting for you. From Day 1 you’ll be welcomed with high-fives and encouraging words. I’ve lost 30 pounds so far. If you’re looking for a fun, non-intimidating, group atmosphere or personal training, look no further than Mgt, you will not be disappointed and you’ll get the results you want!
“KNOW YOUR WHY”: When I first started dieting and exercising the summer before my sophomore year in high school, my primary objective was to lose weight and improve my body image – both necessary and reasonable goals at the time. I had been involved in sports since a young age, but I never had an “athlete’s body”. By restricting calories and spending hours on cardio machines at the gym, I lost 20+ pounds that summer. Disciplined and motivated were terms aptly applied to me. While being good qualities in general, when taken to the extreme, they proved unhealthy and even dangerous. The restrictive eating and mindless exercise continued for over 10 years, as I exhibited the tell-tale signs of the “athlete triad” and the physical and emotional consequences thereof. When life got challenging, with a cross-country move to an unfamiliar city and high pressure job in Houston, my inability to effectively manage with stress got to me. Weight gain pursued, along with insecurity and isolation. I continued to workout a few days a week, even running a few half marathons a year, but it was always something I felt I had to do rather than actually wanted to do. In February 2016, a friend of a friend convinced me to join a 6-week bootcamp with Mean Green Training. Initially I agreed so they could get their Groupon discount, but honestly didn’t think much of it. Aside from competitive sports, group exercise just wasn’t my thing. I thought it may be interesting to try something different for a few weeks, but that’s about it. I’d be back to my long solo training runs in no time. All that changed when I met the amazing people at Mean Green. The workouts were effective and challenging, and Chris had a way of encouraging us all to get those #results! I enjoyed the comradery and actually looked forward to working out again, something I hadn’t done since my baseball/softball days in high school. Soon, a 6- week program turned into 12 weeks, turned into 12 months, several times over. When I stopped focusing on the numbers (e.g. how much weight I wanted/could lose) and instead on what I was gaining – strength, fitness, confidence, friendships– that’s when the true results came – physical, mental, emotional and even spiritual. Of course, the physical benefits have been nice: I have since lost 20+ pounds, am back to my same jeans size as college, have a healthy BMI, and am stronger than ever. Mentally, my approach to eating is also different. I look at food as fuel – nourishing my body so it can perform at its best God-given ability. Health and life itself is a gift and a responsibility. That’s “my why” – why I work out 1-2 hours a day, 5+ days a week; why I eat healthy; why I take care of my body, mind and soul. It keeps me grounded, gives me joy, and connects me in meaningful ways to amazing, genuine people. Mean Green helped me realize that. Honestly, I can’t ever see myself without the community at MGT. They are my #fitfam for life.
After 5 children, 167 lbs. on, a good friend invited me to Mean Green Training Center. I joined, and just a few months later I was down 25 lbs. I am so glad to continue the process with Mean Green. They are wonderful people and I am getting wonderful RESULTS! I am more than 30 lbs. down from when I started. I am excited to see how much more I can do. MGT, thanks for all the help and motivatio
“When I first met Chris, I was fresh out of undergrad and weighing just a little over 200lbs. I really let myself go and needed to do something in order to keep my energy level up at work, get motivation to stay focused in graduate school, and adjust to moving to a new city. Then, I met Chris by signing up for one of his mean green bootcamps and it has been one of the best decisions I have ever met. Sure, I occasionally ran and rode a bicycle but I need something that was more cardiovascular intensive, losing fat, but also build strength. Since joining Chris and the trainers at mean green training I have lost over 40lbs and my lifestyle habits have completely taken a U-turn. I started eating better, my energy level was up lasting me longer through the work day, and it helped with the ladies as well. The great thing about mean green’s approach is the motivational team building approach he encourages in all of his trainees. “
My name is Katashia Partee Kendrick and I am currently a member of the Mean Green Training Family. Since August 2017, I’ve been training with Harmony. I was very apprehensive about working out with Harmony because she is a beast in the gym and I could imagine what her personal training sessions would be like. Now, I cannot imagine training with anyone else. Harmony embodies change. Through consistent and positive encouragement, she has changed my attitude about what I can’t do. She quietly discovered a competitive athlete in me that I never knew existed. Harmony is passionate about fitness and it shows through her energy and enthusiasm she brings to every personal training session and small group classes. She makes each workout challenging, creative, and most importantly, fun! Harmony’s free spirit and relaxed personality makes a big difference in my workouts. She motivates me to push past my perceived limits to get the results. The results speak for themselves. I have lost weight, gained muscle, and increased my endurance. If you are serious about changing your life for the better and looking for a trainer, I recommend Harmony Fowler.
I started with Mean Green Training a few months after I moved to Houston in 2013. A chance encounter with a boot camper at Hermann Park led to the profound relationship I currently have with the MGT family. It wasn’t easy in the beginning; long commutes, tiredness, and lack of motivation often dissuaded me from going to class (especially outside in the Houston summers). But the open acceptance and celebration of every small victory by the trainers and members lured me back each time. The wonderful thing about MGT is that no one is ever alone; when one joins, one gains an expansive network of supporters, friends, and family members. I’m running faster with companions, lifting heavier with helping hands, and laughing more than I ever thought I would do in a workout session. Mean Green has made Houston my new home, and I can’t wait to continue all of our adventures together.
In the summer of 2017, I knew I needed to make a big change. Somehow in the midst of hating every photo that was taken of me that summer, and feeling discouraged by how out-of-shape I had let myself get—I realized that my problem was bigger than weight. For so many years, I had put myself last. I deprioritized my own needs, particularly my health and fitness, for nearly everything else in my life. I knew I had wanted to lose weight, but always felt like I couldn’t make the space for it in my schedule. I went above and beyond at work, and in my relationships with friends and family, but somehow convinced myself it was selfish to make me a priority. It sounds like a simple fix, but I struggled with trying to do this for years. I tried lots of diets and exercise programs, but just couldn’t seem to get it together. That summer, I prayed God would show me a way to make a serious life change—not just move numbers on the scale—but completely shift the way I had operated for the past decade. When I started with Mean Green Training on August 1st, and specifically with the Beast Mode Makeover, I knew it was my answered prayer. In the sixth months that followed: I pushed myself physically harder than I ever have before; I prioritized my health and fitness (essentially: myself) in a way I didn’t think was possible; and I found a new sense of accomplishment with each temptation I overcame. I was never an athlete, and aside from being the first one in elementary school to learn the Tootsie Roll, I had never been particularly proud of what my body could do. At MGT, that slowly started to change – what once was impossible became possible. I started to set goals for myself, to push myself harder, and for the first time ever, find joy in fitness. Workouts were no longer just a means to an end, but instead, an opportunity to celebrate all my body could do. Over those six months, I lost 30 pounds and 30 (cumulative) inches. I gained mental and physical strength, a surge of self-confidence, newfound discipline in other areas of my life, and an entirely new perspective on my priorities. To say I am grateful for MGT would be an incredible understatement. The trainers, the workouts, the accountability, the supportive environment, the family I found in MGT—it was everything I desperately needed to make the change I had been craving. This gym (and the Beast Mode Makeover) is without a doubt one of the very best things that happened to me.
“There aren’t quite enough words to express just how much MGT and Dezi has changed my life and has helped me to feel so much better about myself! I joined MGT in the summer of 2012 shortly after getting married and feeling like I had fallen victim to the so-called “newlywed 10/15 or whatever it is!”. I knew I needed to make a change. I needed something to motivate me to work hard toward my goals, as well as something I’d enjoy and that’s exactly what I got. From the very beginning Dezi met with me to discuss my goals and assured me she’d do everything to help me get back to feeling better about me. She’s always there for me to discuss my struggles and comes up with great ideas of new things for me to do when I get stuck on my way to that next goal. Knowing that she is there to support me every step of the way, even when I get off course, helps me work even harder to reach my goals. She’s been a great leader of the group and always pushes you to the next level, even when you think you can’t!
“I joined Mean Green Training in January and to be honest I was not 100% sure I had made the right decision at the time. Was I crazy to sign up to have some mean person scream at me for hour, 3 days a week? I had never really worked out before and I wasn’t eating right. I weighed over 220 lbs and was unhappy with the way I felt about myself. I really didn’t have anything to lose other than the weight and I had everything to gain. Who knew I would still be here 7 months later. MGT started out as something I thought I was going to dread but it quickly turned in to something I LOVE. Yes I said LOVE. Dezi and MGT changed my vision of a what a boot camp is, because in joining MGT didn’t just join a boot camp I be came part of a family. The positive energy and over all camaraderie we have on our team is something I’ve never experienced before. In this atmosphere I have been able to lose over 50 lbs and gain the confidence I was lacking. My family and friends have noticed the change in me and they all want to know what’s my secret. So I tell them ** MGT and Dezi***. It’s because and only because Dezi believed in me that I could begin to believe in myself. Dezi can motivate and inspire you at the same time, pushing you to see your full potential. Her positive spirit and encouraging words are always there for me when I need them the most. I am not the fastest person but I am ok with that because I know I am faster than I was in January and that means a lot to me.” in! ”
“I like to give special thanks the “Meangreen Bootcamp” Chris Green and Deziree Green for inspiring, encouraging, and motivating me to lose the weight and inches that I have lost. I have been with “Meangreen Bootcamp since April 11, 2011. Chris and Deziree has been nothing but “EXECELLENT” in educating, and motivating me on how to eat healthier and lose weight, surely it has been a trial time for me…….By GOD’S Grace and Mercy, and “Meangreen Bootcamp” I have lost over 20 pounds and about 21 ½ inches. I attend bootcamp twice a week on Tuesdays, and Thursdays. I knew I had a problem with my weight, but wasn’t motivated to get started with any exercise. In March 2011, my church held a Health Fair, and Chris Green were there holding a seminar. Listening to a well spoken gentle talk about eating healthier and exercising was enough for me to say I need to attend his bootcamp. I like to say to Chris andDeziree thank you so much for your job well done. I would suggest anyone who is struggling with low self-esteem because of your weight; to join “Meangreen Bootcamp for some life changing “RESULTS”. Look at me before and me after my “RESULTS”. I am “NOT” going back; I will press forth for more “RESULTS”. Until then come on and get some “RESULTS” in! ”
“When I turned the 40 I realized I was at my worst peak with my overweight struggle,my blood pressure and blood sugars were borderline high. I had been on that roller coaster ride losing weight and gaining it back and always looking for a quick short miracle weight loss secret. I came across Mean Green Training BOOTCAMP through one of my family members wonderful social media page. I had planned to attend a trial run day and chickened out. I kept thinking to myself “BOOTCAMP who am I kidding I will never survive”. I finally built up enough courage to try it out and SURVIVED. Who would have thought that would become the first day of one of the BEST journeys of my LIFE. With the help of The Lord above, our MGT TEAM and the most awesome trainer DEZI I have accomplished all of my goals I have set for myself physically and more importantly mentally. Never in my dreams would I have thought I would be able to lose 30 pounds and 30 inches in less than six months with out diet pills or dieting. It has become a lifestyle and best of all my health is the best it has ever been. At forty years old I CAN DO BURPEES , RUN A 5K AND WAS AWARDED BOOTCAMPER OF THE YEAR! We at MGTcall those RESULTS!!”
“I’ve always been an athletic person however, let’s be honest life happens, we get busy and we don’t take the time to follow all of the rules of a healthy lifestyle as much as we should. The week of March 12,2013 I decided that my health was more important and I needed to take my life back over and get healthy. I went on Groupon and bought the boot camp pass to Mean Green bootcamp classes that would eventually change my life forever. I bought the products, read the books , and I was immediately hooked and sold on this healthy lifestyle Mean Green promoted. Til this day I’m 68 pounds down and motivating everyone that I come in contact with that working out and eating right is not a diet, but it is a lifestyle change. One thing I always tell people is I never said it was going to be easy, it’s a mindset and as long as you change your mindset you will see results.”
My trainer Harmony Cyrus has been my ROCK and motivation. Harmony stay on top our training session and pushes me when I do not feel up to a workout. I’ve seen some amazing things happen while working with Harmony I have knee injury and she help me cope with it. She is a star trainer, she makes feel like you are family. Now I am learning my body again and I am very happy she a part of the MEAN GREEN TRAINING GYM. Harmony helps me understand some keys points with MGT: (Spiritual, Mental, and Physical)
Patience. When I first started exercising, it was exhausting because I carried so much weight. Instead of dwelling on the difficulty, I was patient, and in time my energy levels began to climb.
Determination. Even if you have a setback, even if you break the rules from time to time, don’t give up. Just don’t.
Exercise and getting on the scale became my new addiction. I didn’t always see the results I wanted, but I wouldn’t allow myself to be discouraged. I moved forward. My life was changing for the better with every number that disappeared. Joining Mean Green Family has been the best decision I have ever made I saw 208 pounds in the middle of the summer 2017 fast forward to the summer of 2018, and I was weighing in at 170 pounds.
I’ve been trying to lose weight for the last 6 years; I’ve pretty much tried everything and every gym. It wasn’t until September of 2017 that I decided to give personal trainer, Harmony, a try.
As you can imagine, I was skeptical due to my several failed attempts in the past.
However, from the moment I met Harmony, I knew he she a person that could help me achieve my goals and also the one that would help change my life for the better. In August, I was at my highest weight of 246 lbs. By December—thanks to Harmony’s amazing workout and meal plans—I was down 27 lbs!!
Harmony’s passion to help clients reach their goals and ability to connect with her clients is remarkable. She continuously encouraged and motivated me to do better, and yet she knew how much I was capable of. Hurricane Harmony is truly amazing!
Before I started training with Harmony, I’d fallen completely off my healthy fitness journey that I had so tiresly worked on for 3yrs. Harmony, the drill master that she is has helped get back on track with my eating, drinking ( Lord knows I love me a Lemon Drop)strength, & durability. I never want to miss a workout with her because of her unique style of training.I would love to keep her for life! I wish I could train with her 5 days a week. I enjoy seeing her dance between my sweat sessions & if she s not dancing something’s wrong. My overall experience with Harmony has been great thank you Harmony for pushing me!
I joined Mean Green in the middle of my weight loss journey in August 2017. I signed up for the Maniac class with Jason Miller. Within my first month of working out with him, I lost 11 pounds. That’s when I knew I was probably never going to leave Mean Green, even after I reach me weight loss goals. I love the welcoming, judgement free atmosphere. All the trainers are nice, friendly and very motivating. They seem to really care about all their clients. Mean Green isn’t just a gym, is a place where you feel encouraged and desire to achieve all of your goals.
“I joined MGT with some co workers over a year ago and ever since we have continued to come and push each other. My coworkers are now my friends and gym rats!! We depend on each other and hold each other accountable. Coming to MGT is like seeing family every day that you look forward to laughing and working hard with. My commitment to the gym goes beyond the workout, it’s a stress reliever and a time to see some familiar faces. MGT has a whole other feeling to it that you cant ger at a regular gym; we high-five, introduce each other, group huddle, break into teams, and we fight for the results! The trainers are awesome and I don’t think the classes would be the same of they weren’t there, I definitely believe my outlook would be different. Jason is the funniest trainer but makes sure your form is correct and you are doing the exercises correctly. The trainers along with the music definitely make the difference! We go hard….and then we go home! ”
I’ve been athletic all my life but stopped when I started college and my career. It wasn’t until 2013, while sitting on my couch, I realized I needed a change. My friend invited me to start running with her on Mondays and Wednesdays at Memorial Park. Surprisingly, she would run 3 miles with me after a Mean Green Bootcamp and would insist that I try it out, one day. And so I tried MGT Bootcamp with Milton. I went and enjoyed the atmosphere and the training. Milton was positive and encouraging and made working out fun. I have been with MGT since 2013 and it wasn’t until 2017 when I decided to make a change in my nutrition. It was the only thing that held me back from getting the results I knew I could get. Believe it or not, I was working out so much but never changed my eating habits. I was paying all of this money to get the SAME results. That needed to change! As members of MGT, we are to make goals for ourselves to acheive, every year. I would never choose to have better nutritional habits, until last year. I consulted with Ashley Perrot and shifted my entire development.
Most of my life I have battled obesity. I would lose weight and then gain it back by doing a bunch of fad diets. Then one day I saw a Groupon for mean green and that’s when I stopped dieting and started making lifestyle changes. From my first day at mean green up to now I am finally down 100 pounds and enjoy exercising. Mean green isn’t just another workout group, we are a FAMILY!!!
I started with Mean Green June 2016 so almost 2 years ago and I have made a complete 180 degree turn in my fitness and nutrition journey. When I started I had not worked out consistently in about 2 years and I was just eating on the go and eating whatever. No discipline in my diet or exercise. After 6 months of starting with Mean Green I was chosen to be apart of the Beast mode makeover program and lost a total of almost 40 pounds in one year. In the program I was taught how to get discipline back in my life with food, exercise, and made lifelong friends. I am over halfway there to my ultimate goal and know that with the tools I have learned with mean green and the trainers I will reach my ultimate goal
